GSMA AND NEUSTAR CERTIFY IXLINK® AS PART OF
CARRIER ENUM INITIATIVE
Innovative service translates phone numbers into IP-based addresses enabling mobile users to initiate a wide range of IP-based communications via their existing phone numbers
VIENNA, Va.—November 18, 2008— iXLink, a business unit of Telarix, Inc., today announced that it has been certified as part of the introduction of PathFinder™, a new Carrier ENUM service developed by the GSM Association (GSMA) and NeuStar (NYSE: NSR).
The PathFinder service simplifies the delivery of IP-based services to mobile and fixed line network operators, reducing the cost and complexity of delivering a wide range of IP-based services. It serves as a central ‘directory’ for all operators, and enables them to rapidly launch new IP services including Packet Voice, Instant Messaging (IM), MMS, email, and video, by enabling the process of linking an IP address to a phone number for mobile devices, fixed-line phones and IP devices.
As part of the Pathfinder service, iXLink serves as the front-end provisioning interface for operators to publish their ENUM data on Pathfinder. By integrating their OSS with iXLink, operators can automate, control, and streamline the process of publishing their ENUM data, while ensuring all updates and policy information are accurately reflected in PathFinder.
The mobile operators who participated in the pilot program for PathFinder were Bharti, Lleida.net, Mobilkom, SMART, Telekom Austria, Telenor and TIM. They successfully exchanged international packet voice and MMS traffic enabled by ENUM, validating ENUM as an effective solution to IP-based routing and interconnection. PathFinder is now ready for commercial availability to mobile and fixed network operators, carriers and related service providers.
Founded in conjunction with some of the world’s largest carriers as a neutral business information exchange service for the telecom industry, iXLink reduces the costs and complexities associated with interconnection including publication of IP-based routing data, optimization of purchase and sales processes; international dial code management; and invoice validation and presentation. By electronically exchanging business data and documents, carriers are streamlining their interconnection management processes as well as reducing the complexity and administrative costs surrounding daily interconnect transactions.
